Welcome Class of 2017!


Completing the required assessments is an important step in your preparation for matriculation at The Citadel. Please note that some assessments are required for all students, while others pertain only to certain courses or programs of study. Therefore, please read the following information carefully.

 

Note: The instructions for the specific placement exams, as well as login instructions for CitLearn, can be found by choosing from the menu to the left.

 

 

Required for ALL Students

(For all incoming students, regardless of major course of study or transfer credits.)

  1. Ethics Writing Sample – (Due by 1 August) Provides a chance to demonstrate your writing skills and begin thinking about principled leadership.

  2. Career Assessment(Due by 1 August) This program helps you determine and explore careers that best fit your interests and values.

  3. AlcoholEdu – (Due by 17 August) This program provides new college students with a comprehensive understanding of the risks of underage drinking. The program will be available starting 8 July 2013.

     

 

Placement Exams - Required, Depending on Course of Study
Open on May 31, 2013

 

The ability to read critically, to write clearly, and to reason quantitatively provides a strong foundation for academic success at the college level.Therefore, Citadel students MUST take the Placement Exams required for their major course of study:

 

  1. Mathematics Placement Exam (Due by 1 August) for incoming students who are majoring in: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry (B.S.), Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or who either are pursuing a minor or are in a scholarship program that requires MATH 131 (Analytic Geometry and Calculus I).

  2. Foreign Language Placement Exam (Due by 1 August) (French, German, or Spanish) for all incoming students, except for Engineering and Education Majors.

Remember: The Core Values of The Citadel are Honor, Duty, and Respect. As such, we remind incoming students that all assessments must be completed by the students themselves without outside aid.

 

Please check the due dates listed above for each assessment. Most are due by 1 August 2013, and all are due before Matriculation Day.
