The ability to read critically, to write clearly, and to reason quantitatively provides a strong foundation for academic success at the college level. Therefore, Citadel students MUST take the Placement Exams required for their major course of study:
- Mathematics Placement Exam for incoming students who are majoring in: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry (B.S.), or who either are pursuing a minor or are in a scholarship program that requires MATH 131 (Analytic Geometry and Calculus I).
- Foreign Language Placement Exam (French, German, or Spanish) for all incoming students, except for Engineering and Education Majors.
- The Leadership Writing Sample for all incoming students regardless of major course of study or transfer credits.
